Born April 5, 1981 in Mexico, Jorge de la Rosa is MLB starting pitcher, and plays for the Colorado Rockies since 2008. De la Rosa started his professional baseball minor league career in 1998, when he was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks as amateur free agent. Before the 2000 season, he was bought over by Mexican League, Monterrey Sultanes, and for the next season of 2001, he was purchased by the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox, in November 2003, traded de la Rosa and three other players to acquire Curt Schilling from the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, the next month in December, he was traded by the Diamondbacks to the Milwaukee Brewers. This was a good opportunity for de la Rosa, as he got a chance to play MLB in August 2004 for the Brewers. In 2006, the Brewers team had many injured starting pitchers, which left an opening in the fifth spot. De la Rosa was given a starting role, when Dana Eveland did not perform as expected. He played three starts, in which he managed ERA of 12.27, and a 0-2 record. However, after the third start he was put on the disabled list for 15 days, as he had blistered his fingers.
